The Hyperbaric Chamber Rental Process

If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, the next step is to contact our founder, Dr. Sue Wendling. You can text 503-799-9738 or call and leave a message; your call will be returned within 24 hours. You can also reach us by email through our Contact page. Dr. Sue will answer your questions, address any concerns, and help determine if Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) is right for you. She’ll also help you decide whether an FDA-approved horizontal or vertical chamber would be best suited to your needs. Our horizontal chambers are the larger ones and can easily accommodate both an adult and a child during a session.

First, a Physician Statement is required from a qualified physician. Please download the Physician Statement Form. Have your physician fill out the form and return the completed form to Dr. Sue Wendling.

To secure your rental, a deposit is required when scheduling, with full payment due before delivery. We accept PayPal, Venmo, credit cards, and cash. If delivery requires an overnight stay, there will be an additional charge to cover hotel costs.

For some conditions, Dr. Wendling is comfortable filling out your Physician’s Order for mHBOT, but in most cases, you will need to download the form from our website and have your physician complete it prior to delivery.

Once everything is in order, we’ll schedule the delivery of one of our sanitized, FDA-approved chambers, depending on availability. Upon arrival, we’ll gather a brief, confidential medical history.

Setting Up the Chamber

The chamber requires a reasonably large, dedicated space. It’s similar in size to a tanning bed. You will need to use a dedicated outlet for the compressor and oxygen concentrator. A 10L oxygen concentrator is included as part of the rental, which is not typically provided by other rental companies. While not mandatory, additional oxygen is commonly recommended to enhance your treatment outcome. We also provide an oxygen mask. The equipment is somewhat noisy, and some clients prefer to place the concentrator in another room. Just be sure not to put it in a closet with the door closed. To reduce noise and heat buildup, the compressor and concentrator should be elevated slightly off the floor. We’ll provide you with a couple of simple Styrofoam squares for this purpose.

If the chamber feels too warm during dives, you can place a fan near the compressor or use the reusable freezer packs we provide. Dressing in light clothing can also help, and we offer small, rechargeable fans for inside the chamber. If needed, we can provide an electric room air filter, depending on availability. We also have noise-reduction headphones when available.

Additional Benefits

Red light therapy has been shown to enhance the healing process, especially when combined with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. If available, we’re happy to provide a unit for use while in the chamber.

To make entering and exiting the chamber easier, a stool, ottoman, or grab bar can be helpful. Let us know if you’d like to borrow a stool. You can also use the chamber if you live alone, as it doesn’t require two people to operate.

We’ll set up the chamber, ensure everything is working properly, and guide you through your first dive. We’re always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have—no question is too small.

Treatment Guidelines

After an initial adjustment period, which some clients find necessary, the gold standard for mHBOT treatment is two dives per day, each lasting 1–2 hours, with at least 4 hours between dives. Please note, this is a general guideline. Unlike high-pressure chambers, you can dive daily, but we recommend taking at least one day off each week for a mental break. Healing with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is not a quick fix—it’s a commitment. While some clients may notice improvement after just one dive, it’s more typical to see results after 10, 20, or even 40 dives. Therefore, we encourage you to complete as many dives as you can tolerate.

Rental Details

Our FDA-approved chambers are rented by the month, with most clients opting for a two-month rental to achieve optimal benefits. The rental fee is $1,200 (plus tax, if applicable) for the first month and $1,000 for subsequent months, assuming we can deliver in one day. If you complete two dives per day for 30 days, that breaks down to $20 per dive. For once-daily dives, your cost is $40 per dive, all in the convenience of your own home.

Currently, Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is not covered by medical insurance. However, if you itemize medical expenses on your federal tax return, you may be able to write off the cost (please consult with your tax advisor). If you have a health savings plan through your employer, you may be able to use pre-tax dollars to pay for the chamber rental.

Long-Term Use

Many of our clients decide that long-term use of a hyperbaric chamber is the most beneficial option for their health. If you choose to purchase an mHBOT chamber and oxygen concentrator, we have a partnership with Newtowne Hyperbarics. Depending on the model you choose, we can offer up to an $800 credit toward the purchase of a chamber and compressor.
